Helping Californians Move Forward After Devastating Fires

At The Law Offices of Hiepler & Hiepler, our attorneys are committed to helping individuals, families, farmers, businesses, and property owners who have been affected by wildfires.

Wildfires destroy lives, homes, treasured personal mementos and possessions, orchards, and crops. Many of California’s wildfires are not naturally occurring but are caused by utility companies that negligently fail to maintain their equipment and powerlines.

Thomas Fire – December 2017

Hiepler & Hiepler represents homeowners and families devastated by the December 2017 Thomas Fire. The Thomas Fire burned over 280,000 acres, resulted in 23 fatalities, destroyed 1,063 structures, and displaced thousands of people in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. Most people affected by the Thomas Fire had homeowners’ insurance but discovered their policies did not cover all their significant losses.

Maria Fire – October/November 2019

Hiepler & Hiepler is investigating the cause of the Maria fire in Ventura County. The Maria fire started on the top of South Mountain on Halloween 2019. High winds quickly spread the fire and it ultimately burned 10,000 acres before it was contained six days later. The Maria fire burned in a primarily agricultural area, destroying avocado and citrus groves, resulting in millions of dollars of losses to farmers. It will take years for many of these orchards to be replanted and begin producing fruit.
